Abstrakt EN: The 1990 French spelling reforms recommend lexicographers to omit hyphens in words containing Greek and Latin prefixes and elements, except for such cases when the omission of hyphens could cause mispronunciation or intelligibility problems. The theoretical framework of this study thus focusses on the description of hyphenation in French (lexical, syntactic and typographical), hyphenation rules with the reformed spelling, and the consideration of French spelling reforms by the analysed dictionaries. However, the main objective of this study is to find out as to whether this instruction is respected by lexicographers in recent editions of the most frequently used dictionaries. A detailed analysis of the words newly added to the latest ten editions of the dictionaries Petit Robert and Petit Larousse (published between the years 2011?2020) shows that a number of modifications have been made. It not only answers the initial question posed in the title of the article, but also provides a detailed list of words, on which the spelling reform had a major impact.
